This is a piece that has Brazilian roots in the feel and lyrics, as I was influenced by both Samba music and the the work of Antonio Carlos Jobim. I began writing Springtime Kiss after an April walk in the woods with one of my grandsons, where I was struck by his wonder of the natural changes we experience during this time.
lyrics
The sun’s appearance in this northern state warms April ice, buds breaking free.
A child’s gaze upon life now unbound soothes spirit needs.
Heated hands coax covered arms from winter coats, skin to be seen.
Mud creations replace men of snow, rest in a dream.
Gimme some of that warmth and sunshine, hands up high I need your lovin’,
Lift me up the light is callin’, hold me tight with strength I’m fallin’.
Gimme some of that warmth and sunshine, hands up high I need your lovin’,
Lift me up the light is callin’, hold me tight with strength my darlin’.
When the streams are flowing freely, unobstructed by the fallen snow,
Comfort me with a springtime kiss, reawakening, warmth and well being.
Cautious hillside step glide into dance, move among the green.
Sound and smell release the joy and our souls are washed clean.
Comfort me with a springtime kiss. (Well being!)
Hands up high I need your lovin’,
Lift me up the light is callin’.
Comfort me with a springtime kiss. (Well being!)
Lift me up the light is callin’,
Hold me tight with strength my darlin’. (Well being!)
Springtime is a-comin', nature resurrecting, springtime is a-comin. (Well being!)
Springtime is a-comin', nature resurrecting, springtime is a-comin. (Well being!)
Hey! Spriiiiiingtime is a-comin', nature resurrecting. (Well being!)
When the streams are flowing freely, unobstructed by the falling snow,
Comfort me with your springtime kiss, reawakening, warmth and well being. (2x)
Well being. Well being, well being.
